Inês Moreira Rato

Inês started her career in Chicago, USA where she studied counseling and worked with Latin American families, couples and individuals who presented issues such as, family conflict and divorce, parenting difficulties and children with serious emotional and behavioral problems.

She continued her training in London where she completed an MSc in Family Therapy at King’s College and subsequently registered  as an accredited member and supervisor at the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
Having initially worked with families, individuals and couples affected by substance misuse in the context of the UK National Health System, Inês continued her career with a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), where she worked clinically with families when a child presented with a difficulty, as well as delivering parenting courses and supporting other professionals who worked with children. In 2012, she returned to her native Portugal where she worked at the Psychology Department of Park International School, lead parenting groups and a workshop for family therapists in training at the Portuguese Society of Family Therapy (SPTF). She has also developed her private practice with international couples, individuals and families with issues that include relationship difficulties, family conflict, cultural adaptation, low self-esteem, identity issues, anxiety, anger management, trauma and depression. Since July 2019, she is also a Wellbeing Supervisor at the British Embassy in Lisbon and in Africa, where provides support and explores the emotional impact with some staff members who are working in a stressful environment and who may be exposed to traumatic or potentially distressing material or situations.
